Funds to Start a Bird Rescue/Sanctuary in Ontario

This is a few years in the future, but once I finish my degree in zoology at the university of Toronto, my goal would be to open a bird rescue.
I love parrots with all my life - they are very intelligent creatures and I find that people do not understand their mental capacity and the specialized attention they need. Birds are released into the world, and clog up shelters where people do not have the right knowledge or training to care for them. Likewise, the chances are the bird will end up with another unknowing owner, to suffer the same fate.

I would like to open up a sanctuary where we can take in birds, whether abused, neglected, or just needing to find a new home. With proper care and support, we hope to readjust the bird to living in a partnership with a person, and then find the a proper home with a new owner. We want to educate the people we serve, and not just pump out birds.

Unfortunately this is a very expensive idea. Not only do we need a space to operate, but also spend money on quality cages, quality food, toys, etc. for the bird to have proper nutrition and a lot of mental stimulation.

If you have any idea where I could find this kind of funding, even to just get a jump start, id really appreciate it.
