I live in NC. I began buying my home 3 years ago with the plans of building a larger barn to foster horses. I currently have a two stall small barn on 6 acres of pasture. In the past I have taken in unwanted, neglected, abused pets, dogs, horses, birds, etc. (either for free or at a cost) and taken care of them then adopted them to good homes. I would foster only what I had room for. I was able to do this with no problems due to my income. At this time my finances have decreased due to medical reasons and job reasons. I can't afford to do this now. I still have many people who contact me for help, specifically with horses. There are lots of animals in need right now due to the economy and other reasons. I would like to continue doing this. Can someone explain to me how you go about getting funding for a nonprofit (501 c 3) program or any other type of funds to allow me to enlarge my barn and have funds for this project.
